Understanding Proportional Feed

What is proportional feed?
Proportional feed doses chemical in proportion to makeup water flow — the controller triggers a measured feed time on each water-meter pulse. This keeps dosage matched to actual water usage rather than to the clock.
How is feed time per water-meter pulse calculated?
The calculator divides the daily solution demand by the number of metered events per day (makeup ÷ water-meter pulse volume) and by the pump’s actual output, returning the minutes of feed to program per pulse.
When is proportional feed better than percent-time?
Proportional feed is more accurate for variable-load systems because it follows real makeup flow. Percent-time control is simpler and works well when load and makeup are steady.
